Full Job Description

Reporting to the MEP Asset Lead, the candidate will be responsible for Access management of an Asset during the AFO & MEP fit-out stages of shafts and headhouses on the HS2 S1 and S2 lots.,

  • Review Designs for compliance with Contract Requirements alongside practical & efficient buildability and maintenance requirements
  • Monitor design progress to ensure adequate safety measures are considered in construction and T&C stages
  • Understanding of the T&C Strategy and associated Industry Standard Safe Systems of Work
  • Input into identifying long lead time and high-risk packages and products and access routes to and from delivery locations to the final install point
  • Assist with the development and submission of MEP Permit procedures
  • Working with the planning team to develop and maintain and monitor a robust programme that is cascaded and understood by the entire construction team inc. 6 week lookahead
  • Liaising with any Third Parties, HS2 or HSRS to manage early access requirements and adequate handovers
  • Other Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the Implementation of the health, safety, environmental and quality standards into construction planning and works.
  • Promoting and monitoring the roll out and implementation of SCS values and behaviours, HS2 - working with Skanska, Costain and STRABAG, closely monitors job applications, to ensure an inclusive recruitment process.     Essential:
  • A professional qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related subject
  • Experience of delivering MEP works on a major rail or infrastructure project
  • Knowledge of industry regulations for Construction and testing and commissioning of building services (e.g. BS 7671 and Building Regulations).
  • Relevant CSCS Card. SMSTS or equivalent.
  • Desirable:
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience in interfaces with High Voltage, Low Voltage & Communications and Tunnel Ventilation.
  • Experience in managing interfaces between Supply Chain and managing Access arrangements inc. MEP Riser Management
  • Strong leadership, communication and conflict management skills, A physical or mental impairment, which has a substantial and long-term effect (over 12 months) adverse effect on your ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities
  • Demonstrated in your application and pre-interview stage that you meet the minimum job criteria and person specification for the role

    The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK's new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK's 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services

Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.
