Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner / Senior Assistant Psychologist

Based between Brighton & Worthing Probation offices, you will work closely with partner agencies, including the Probation Service and CGL, delivering high-quality, evidence-based, psychologically informed interventions to people with complex and often marginalised needs. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to clinical governance, data collection, and service development under the supervision of the Clinical Lead (Principal Psychologist). With appropriate support, you will undertake psychological assessments and deliver tailored interventions. You will also benefit from being part of a wider psychological professions network, supporting your ongoing professional development and career progression.,

• Play a key role within the MHTR pathway, supporting and enhancing the psychological care provided to service users. This will include delivering psychological assessments and interventions appropriate to your level of training and experience, alongside contributing to the ongoing development, evaluation, and improvement of the service.
• Work autonomously within the role, with workload, objectives, and professional development supported through regular supervision from an HCPC-registered Practitioner Psychologist.
• Assess service users' suitability for psychological interventions and provide support for up to 12 sessions, depending on individual need.
• Carry out risk assessments and collaboratively plan care with service users.
• Develop and agree intervention goals in partnership with service users, ensuring care is person-centred and outcome-focused.
• Implement and monitor pre- and post-intervention outcome measures to support evaluation of progress and effectiveness.
• Build professional and therapeutic relationships with service users that respect their views, autonomy, culture, and individual experiences.
• Respond calmly, sensitively, and empathetically when supporting individuals experiencing distressing or emotionally challenging circumstances.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in all aspects of the role.
  
  We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic practitioner to join our expanding team.For the Mental Health Wellbeing Practitioner role, applicants must have completed the relevant PGCert or CertGrad qualification and be registered as a Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner on a professional register recognised by NHS England for this role.For the Senior Assistant Psychologist role, applicants must hold an Honours degree in Psychology (2:1 or above) and be eligible for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the BPS.

Commissioned by NHS England, the service delivers Community Sentence Treatment Requirements in partnership with the Probation Service and substance use services.
