Full Job Description
This is an excellent opportunity to develop a rewarding career in Mental Health Law while working closely with our experienced Head of Department.,
- Assist in the preparation of Mental Health Tribunal cases
- Draft legal documents, applications, correspondence and witness statements
- Interview clients and witnesses
- Review expert reports and supporting evidence
- Prepare hearing files and tribunal bundles
- Support clients throughout the tribunal process
- Maintain Legal Aid Agency compliance requirements
- Manage files, diaries and time recording
- Deliver exceptional client care
- Work towards Mental Health Panel Accreditation where applicable
You will support clients through Mental Health Tribunal proceedings, helping vulnerable individuals access legal advice and representation while developing your legal knowledge, advocacy skills, and case management experience. We are particularly interested in candidates who already hold Mental Health Panel Accreditation and can independently represent clients before Mental Health Tribunals and manage their own caseload. However, applications are also welcomed from law graduates who have completed the LPC or SQE, or candidates with relevant experience who are looking to work towards accreditation with the support of the firm. The role is based from our Hoylake, Wirral office, with hybrid working available. It covers clients across the Northwest of England and North Wales and involves regular travel to hospitals and tribunal venues. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are therefore essential., - Law Degree (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification
- LPC, SQE, or equivalent legal training completed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Empathetic, professional and resilient approach when working with vulnerable clients
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Desirable
- Mental Health Panel Accreditation
- Experience in Mental Health Law
- Experience of Mental Health Tribunal proceedings
- Knowledge of Legal Aid Agency requirements
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals
