We're looking for a compassionate and motivated Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at Stewart Gardens in Dawlish, supporting people on their recovery journey. About the service Stewart Gardens is part of our Devon Supported Housing service, providing housing-related support to people leaving hospital or residential settings who have low to medium support needs. Using a recovery-focused approach, we empower people to build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their personal goals. What you'll be doing As a Mental Health Support Worker, you'll work closely with the people we support, helping them take positive steps towards greater independence and wellbeing. Your role will include:
- Providing person-centred support tailored to individual goals and recovery plans.
- Building positive, professional relationships based on trust, respect and encouragement.
- Supporting people to access local services, community opportunities, education, employment and social activities.
- Undertaking needs assessments, support planning and risk management activities.
- Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, external agencies and community partners.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to service quality and outcomes monitoring.
- Promoting wellbeing, independence and self-management skills.
- The role may also involve supporting with personal care where required
I have experience of providing support to people with a mental illness in a social care setting. - I have transferable life/work experience to apply to this role.
- I have experience of making a comprehensive assessment of an individual's situation and needs; to develop, implement and review risk management plans and devise support plans and activities to meet these needs.
- Ability to work with digital systems (Microsoft applications, email, internet)
- I am a good listener, empathetic, understanding, kind, patient and willing to learn
- I can demonstrate behaviours consistent with the values of the Charity.
