Mental Health Practitioners

These roles provide an exciting opportunity to support students with their mental health and wellbeing and contribute to the delivery of Royal Holloway's wellbeing and experience offering.
The Directorate of Student Life includes a broad range of student facing teams who are core to the student journey: Active Lifestyle & Sport, Careers, Chaplaincy, Counselling & Mental Health, Disability & Neurodiversity, Hall Life, International & Money Advice, Student Casework, Student Engagement & Insights, and Wellbeing Support.
Reporting to the Head of Counselling & Mental Health they will contribute to the work of the Directorate and support the strategy and aims of the University and Student Journey Division. Role holders will be expected to demonstrate our University values - being Daring, Innovative, Open and Respectful - in their work and be a champion of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Mental Health Practitioners provide triage, non-clinical assessment and support to Royal Holloway students who may be exploring mental health challenges or seeking diagnosis from external specialist services. Each member of the team holds a small caseload, with a focus on short-term support that is appropriate to a University setting and will refer longer-term needs on to NHS and specialist agencies and social care teams. In addition to working with students the team also deliver psychoeducational workshops and lead, as required, projects or training with at the university to foster greater mental wellbeing and understanding of mental health amongst the student community

We are also seeking candidates who have a mental health qualification, strong relevant experience of working in a multi-disciplinary mental health setting, and a clear understanding of the boundaries of support within University support services.

With roles in Student Life there is a need for mainly campus-based working to enable in-person student appointments, based on student preference and need, but there will be some opportunity for working remotely each week.

The post is based in Egham, Surrey, where the University is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Runnymede, Virginia Water & Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.
