Mental Health Practitioner/Assistant Psychologist

Llamau

  • Location: Cardiff

  • Salary: £31,094 per year

  • Type: Permanent

  • Hours: Full-time

Llamau are seeking a Mental Health and Wellbeing practitioner or Assistant Psychologist to support our work in ensuring we are a psychologically and trauma informed organisation.

Working alongside the Consultant Counselling Psychologist and Principal Clinical Psychologist, you will build on the current work of the PIE team which includes the Wellbeing service, in-house Counselling Service to the people we support and the Learning and Development team, contributing to Llamau being a psychologically informed environment (PIE).

You will adapt your work according to the needs of the PIE team and organisation as they continue their PIE journey. The role involves the possibility of a small clinical case load, support in psychological consultation, colleague training and reflective practice.

You will utilise your experience and knowledge to ensure Llamau continues to develop as a psychologically informed environment. You will support teams to achieve better outcomes and to help their understanding of individuals who have experienced multiple and complex traumas.

At Llamau we believe that no young person or vulnerable woman should ever have to experience homelessness. Our mission is to eradicate homelessness for young people and vulnerable women. But for thousands of the most vulnerable people in Wales, homelessness is a frightening reality.

30 years ago Llamau was founded to provide homeless teenagers with a safe place to stay. Since then, we have supported over 67,000 young people, women and their children who are either homeless or facing homelessness.

Many people think the job of a homelessness charity will be to provide accommodation - a safe place to stay. But it is very clear to us that for most people who are facing homelessness, their problems are far more complex than a lack of permanent shelter.

That's why we treat everyone who needs our support as an individual. We recognise their unique strengths and needs and make sure that they are supported to rebuild their futures.
