Mental Health Practitioner

GMMH is delighted to be able to offer a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave, the position of mental health practitioner within the South Manchester and Trafford Mental Health Liaison Team. The post holder will be required to work as part of the 24-hour All-Age Liaison Mental Health Service based at the Manchester Foundation Trust Hospitals at Wythenshawe and Trafford. The post holder will be expected to co-ordinate and prioritise the day to day clinical workload relating to referrals received by the Liaison Mental Health Service. The offers are open to any qualified Mental Health Nurses, Social Workers and Occupational therapists who have active registration within the relevant body. The post holder will be expected to co-ordinate and prioritise the day to day clinical workload relating to referrals received by the Liaison Mental Health Service. A key role will be to undertake timely mental health assessments with service users presenting with mental health problems to the accident and emergency department and within the general hospital. Assessments will be undertaken within the Accident and Emergency Department and the general hospital. The post holder will also be a source of specialist knowledge and advice to professionals at all levels within the general hospital around care and management of service users presenting with primary and secondary mental health needs. The post holder will be responsible for the development of care plans with service users and other relevant stakeholders, if appropriate this will include the autonomous discharge. As part of this role it is expected that the post holder will liaise and communicate with appropriate statutory and non-statutory agencies or care providers when developing care plans. The post holder will be expected to manage and lead the service in the absence of the team leader when appropriate. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to and work to develop the educational and training input provided to the general hospital and Accident and Emergency Department.
