Full Job Description
You will have the opportunity to make profound improvements in how crisis care is experienced by young people and those who care for them. You will be working closely with our inpatient colleagues and have responsibility of managing theSingle Point of Accessfor all Inpatient referrals for the GM population of 13-18 year old young people who are being considered for inpatient care. This will involve working with CYP with a variety of mental health difficulties and diagnosis such as Psychosis, Bipolar Disorder, Emotional dysregulationSchizophrenia, Depression/anxiety, LD, ASD, ADHD, PTSD, Conduct disorder and Attachment difficulties. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with external services such as social care, CAMHS, FCAMHS, CMHT, CEDS, EIT, HTT to ensure the correct pathways are in place, to support our CYP's discharge from hospital. We have seen already how we have positively impacted in ensuring that our young people are being supported within local services, and with the help of our colleagues within RRT reducing the dependency on inpatient care, meaning young people are getting supported at home, in a timely manner. You should be able to demonstrate relevant experience working with children and young people with mental health difficulties and evidence their skills in the assessment of risk. You should also have experience of working across agencies and developing holistic care plans. Knowledge of relevant legislation is preferred and a sound understanding of safeguarding processes is essential. You will be enthusiastic, demonstrate a proactive approach to their work, engage in learning and development and be passionate about working within crisis care. The assessment centre is committed to supporting the successful individual within a robust development framework and will offer appropriate support and regular supervision.,
- Relevant core profession either RMN, SW or OT and with active statutory regulatory registration.
- Evidence of professional registration and continued professional development
- Educated to masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience., Training in one or more additional specialised areas of practice including children and young people, Experience of working as a senior clinician in clinical settings which meet the core competencies of the post
- Experience of managing complex cases within a mental health service
- An extensive range of clinical experience within the speciality or within a care pathway
- Experience of working across professional / organisational boundaries
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for patients' care and treatment
- Experience of teaching, training and / or professional and clinical supervision
- of less experienced practitioners within the MDT
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical and clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups, Knowledge of the use and inputting of outcome measures
- High level of working knowledge of the policy guidance and legislation specifically relating children and young people
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the patient group and mental health, including the Mental Health Act and issues of capacity and consent
- Detailed knowledge of child safeguarding procedures
- Knowledge of referral and bed management procedures, Clinical Credibility & Leadership - Ability to demonstrate clinical credibility and lead, manage, and motivate a team of practitioners.
- High-Level Assessment Skills - Expertise in mental health assessment, risk assessment, and case management for CYP within clinical and legal frameworks.
- Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking - Ability to analyse complex situations, anticipate issues, and develop practical solutions under pressure.
- Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Skilled in presenting complex, sensitive information and building strong relationships across professional boundaries.
- Adaptability & Resilience - Ability to remain calm, professional, and flexible in challenging, uncertain, or high-pressure environments.
