Full Job Description
Bexley Home Treatment Team is a multidisciplinary team, providing a service sevendays a week, 365 days per year to individuals in mental health crisis with theprincipal aim of providing an effective alternative to inpatient care. This involvesintensive clinical work over short periods of time to prevent the need for admission orfacilitate safe early discharge. The team also carries out 72 Hour follow-up forindividuals discharged from mental health inpatient units., As a senior clinician, the post holder will play a key role in the gatekeeping of acuteinpatient admissions, undertaking complex assessments to determine whetherindividuals can be safely and effectively treated in their own homes. This requires ahigh degree of clinical autonomy, advanced risk formulation skills, and the ability tomake robust, evidence-based decisions under pressure.The Home treatment team works in close collaboration with the other elements of thecrisis services, including the Assessment and Admission Avoidance (AAA) Team andMental Health Liaison Teams (MHLTs) in-patient wards, community mental healthteams and local authorities. The post holder will be expected to promote and develop clinical leadership andclinical practice and be a positive role model to junior members of the team throughthe practice of evidence based care. The post holder will be expected to supportprofessional development through clinical appraisal and supervision and contribute tothe ongoing educational programme for staff, fostering a positive learningenvironment. The post holder will be encouraged to foster collaborative crossorganisational working.
