Job summary

Successful applicants will be invited to attend a face-to-face Recruitment Selection Day at Carew House, Bodmin, on Friday 23 October. Sessions will be held either in the morning or afternoon, with further details to be confirmed.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and passionate Band 5 nurse to join our team working within an 8 bedded PICU that provides assessment and treatment for inpatients aged 18 and over, presenting with a mental health crisis.

This role is not for the faint-hearted, it will be challenging and pressurised; but ultimately it will be extremely rewarding and have an emphasis on providing a therapeutic environment which promotes the principles of person centred care that is least restrictive and recovery focused.

Main duties of the job

The post requires an individual with strong communication skills who has the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary ward team. This role requires someone who can work under pressure and be adaptable. Applicants must have some experience of working within the mental health setting, be flexible, hardworking and compassionate with a desire to work in a fast pace environment. You will have access to training and development, annual appraisals and clinical supervision. If you believe you have the right attributes to accept the challenges that this position brings and you want to play a key role in service development, then we look forward to receiving your application.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increase the numbers of people who use out services.
