Full Job Description

We are excited for offer a new role and opportunity of Medicines Administration Pharmacy Technician in our friendly team at The Limes in Portsmouth who put patient care at the forefront. The role is based at The Limes on Oak and Ferm Wards, these are the two Older Person's Mental Health (OPMH) acute inpatient wards based at the Portsmouth St James site. The two OPMH wards are for functional mental illnesses (such as depression or schizophrenia) and organic mental illnesses (such as dementia). The successful post holder will administer medicines to our patients at medication rounds, support admission and discharge medicines reconciliation, provide a full medicines management and optimisation service to the wards and play an important role in the physical healthcare of our inpatients., This role is intended to promote the safe and effective utilisation of medicines in all care situations, working with care staff and patients directly including administering oral medication to inpatients. It requires practitioners to understand the patients pathways of care and how best to optimise patients concordance with medicines. There is a requirement to be able and confident in dealing with patients, carers and healthcare staff internally and other organisations to ensure patients are safe with their medicines., Further information about the Trust and this role can be found on the Job Description and Person Specification document attached.   • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • Accredited checking technician status
  • Current GPhC registration, Training in patient counselling
  • Supervisory skills
  • Medicines Management accreditation
  • Current driving licence -- must have own transport, Minimum 1 year post qualification
  • Awareness of current NHS environment
  • Safety of medicines and current trends in medicines management
  • Good oral presentation skills
  • Able to relate well to wide range of people
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills, Two years post qualification in section of pharmacy with direct patient contact
  • Hospital based experience
  • Experience of POD scheme
  • Experience working in mental health
  • Experience in OPMH dementia and functional care
  • Writing skills -- e.g. For procedures audit
  • IT skills, MS Office, Electronic Patient Records e.g. Rio, Common sense, logical practical thinker
  • Not easily ruffled, reliable and able to deal with stress
  • Able to work in team
