Full Job Description

  • Deal with new referral letters and action as appropriate
  • Ensure typing of clinical letters in a timely manner
  • Be the main point of contact for patients, colleagues and other healthcare professionals on behalf of your consultant/s
  • Assist in the planning and organisation of clinical activity (out-patient clinics, day case lists) by liaising with the appropriate members of staff within the Trust
  • Assist in the collation of information for reports, for example medical reports, risk and complaint management etc.
  • Planning and organising a number of conflicting tasks and priorities at the same time still meeting challenging deadlines.
  • Prioritise workload independently, identifying urgency, highlighting problems and taking appropriate action to prevent or solve problems without supervision.
  • Maintenance of medical records
  • Maintenance of individual filing systems on behalf of the consultant and their team
  • Ensure adequate tracking of medical records both in and out of department

    Applicants should have GCSE at Grade C or above in English Language, as well as NHS administration experience. Applicants must have strong audio typing and transcription abilities.
  • Applicants should be proficient in using all aspects of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook; will be highly organised and able to manage electronic diaries. The applicant must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines and targets. Experience in Oasis/BigHand would be preferable but not essential.
