Summary
The post holder will undertake a 24-month Medical Retina Fellowship within the Ophthalmology Department at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. The fellowship is designed to provide advanced subspecialty training in the assessment, investigation, and management of medical retinal disease in a district general hospital setting. The post holder will work under the supervision of Consultant Ophthalmologists with a subspecialty interest in Medical Retina and will participate in the general ophthalmology on-call rota.
- Attendance at Medical Retina outpatient clinics
- Assessment and management of patients with retinal disease, including AMD, diabetic eye disease, retinal vascular disease, and inflammatory retinal disorders
- Participation in intravitreal injection services in accordance with departmental protocols
- Interpretation of retinal imaging, including OCT and fundus photography
- Participation in the Ophthalmology on-call rota (1 in 14)
- Maintenance of accurate and timely clinical documentation
Professional and organisational duties will include:
- Participation in audit, clinical governance, and quality improvement activities
- Contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as appropriate
- Engagement in appraisal, revalidation, and mandatory training
- Compliance with Trust policies and professional standards
