Full Job Description
We require a laboratory assistant to join our microbiology team. The post will involve supporting the department in providing diagnostic services and includes include data entry, dealing with telephone enquiries; equipment maintenance; stock control; and laboratory waste disposal. However data entry will be the main duty within this role. This position will not support IBMS registration portfolios and is not a route to becoming a Biomedical Scientist.,
- Maintains awareness of changes and developments within the section/department.
- Receives and handles a wide range of enquiries, in person or by telephone, including matters of a confidential or a sensitive nature.
- Basic communication with patients and staff ensuring compliance with confidentiality rules, data protection act etc.
- Issues results in accordance with departmental SOPs.
- Attends meetings as directed
Experience working within an environmental monitoring laboratory or Environmental Microbiology knowledge is desirable.
