Full Job Description
We are recruiting six GKT Medical Education Fellows (MEFs) to join the central MBBS team in the GKT School of Medical Education. The posts suit doctors who have completed the Foundation Programme and want to develop as clinical educators alongside their clinical work. Fellows deliver and organise teaching across the MBBS programme. Depending on the programme's needs and your interests, this may include small group and case-based teaching, clinical skills and clinical communication sessions, exam preparation for the MLA, OSCE examining, marking student projects, and the organisation behind the teaching: timetabling, briefing clinical tutors, building resources on KEATS and acting on student feedback. The mix of work for each fellow is agreed at the start of the post and may change during the post. Fellows will be based mainly at Guy's Campus and the Denmark Hill Campus at King's College Hospital. Some teaching takes place at our clinical partner sites, and the post holder should expect occasional visits to University Hospital Lewisham and the Princess Royal University Hospital. You will be mentored by senior educators and supported to build an educational portfolio, with an allowance of up to £500 towards approved study or CPD in clinical education. Fellows join a peer group of MEFs across the School and take part in our faculty development programme. The posts report to James Galloway, Associate Dean and Head of the GKT School of Medical Education. This is a part-time post at 0.2 FTE, offered on a fixed-term contract starting as soon as possible and ending on 30 September 2027. By agreement at offer, the contract can end on 31 July 2027 instead, for example if you are starting a training post in August. The post is not renewable.
