Summary
The successful applicant will be employed within the Mechanical Transport Maintenance Section (MTMS) at RAF Coningsby. You will be employed within a team with 4 other civil service supervisors required to mentor junior tradespersons (qty 6 on a rotation basis) towards completion of their Engineering NVQ Level 3. This will be carried out whilst they complete routine maintenance, rectification and when required modifications on a varied HGV fleet comprising of Aircraft Refuelling Tankers, Aircraft Towing Tractors, Airfield Snow Clearing Equipment and MHE. Once suitably qualified you will also carry out Vehicle Inspections to DVSA standard across the MT fleet. On a rotating shift basis, there will be a requirement to be on call out of hours, to provide supervision, direction and guidance to the duty fitter (Weekdays 1700 - 0730, Weekends 24 Hrs a day on a 1 in 5 week rotation). Maintenance experience on current in service green fleet vehicles is highly desirable. A good knowledge of computing and how to locate and interpret Policy documents online is essential.
