An exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic project team. Based from our hub in Walsall, you will oversee a diverse portfolio of projects within the Southern Frameworks. This role presents an exciting chance to contribute to projects ranging from £250k to £8M, partnering with leading water companies. We are in the Mechanical and Electrical section of Integrated Water Services. Better known as IWS M&E. and part of South Staffordshire Plc. IWS M&E provides pump diagnostics and refurbishment, project management, telemetry, chemical dosing and control, instrumentation installation and maintenance, environmental management, plant and infrastructure maintenance and emergency response. These services and cost-efficient solutions for water, wastewater and environmental problems are provided 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year anywhere in the UK. IWS M&E is a successful, growing company that is looking for talented employees who want to work in an environment that is challenging and rewarding. What's the role:
- Ascertaining Clients requirements either through reference to their specification documents or more likely through visiting sites with their nominated personnel.
- key requirement is the ability to determine the actual operational requirement and propose appropriate solutions. Working alongside the Design Team and where applicable the Project Manager to ensure scheme designs are value engineered and adhere to client specifications.
- Promote innovation and challenge parties involved to ensure cost effectiveness in all design activities.
- Provide engineering calculations and solutions from inception to completion of schemes utilising our design partners, individual knowledge, site installation and construction personnel.
- To closely coordinate design production between IWS M&E in house design teams, external design companies, our suppliers and subcontractors and where applicable our client's designers.
- Ensuring designs are approved where applicable by the client in accordance with the timescales stipulated within the contract.
- To ensure all design work is completed to agreed programmes, financial budgets, KPI's and to a high-quality complying with IWS M&E design procedure.
- An industry applicable BEng, BSc or equivalent in a mechanical discipline
- Conversant with hydraulic calculations including but not limited to pipelines, pump duties.
- Commercial & contractual awareness
- Working knowledge of Microsoft packages
- Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face)
- Possess a "can do" attitude and provide to support to other members of the team as required Desirable:
- Experience and understanding of water and sewage treatment processes
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit and FEA software's would be an advantage
Salary £40,000 - £50,000 DOE - Company Car Band C/ Car allowance
