Job Description


Rullion is recruiting Mechanical Assembly Technicians on behalf of Alstom to support production activities at their Derby manufacturing facility. Working within Alstom's historic Derby manufacturing facility, you'll support the assembly and production of modern rolling stock as part of one of the UK's leading rail engineering teams. This is an excellent opportunity for mechanically minded individuals looking to join one of the UK's leading rail engineering organisations.


Contract: Initial 6-month contract with the potential for extension.


Shift Pattern: Rotating Shifts



  • Monday - Thursday:

    • Week 1: 06:00 - 14:00

    • Week 2: 14:00 - 22:00



  • Fridays: 06:00 - 12:00 or 12:00 - 18:00 depending on shift pattern


Pay Rates:



  • Days (06:00 - 14:00): £19.57 PAYE / £26.17 Umbrella

  • Afternoons (14:00 - 22:00): £20.98 PAYE / £28.09 Umbrella


Key Responsibilities



  • Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly activities on rolling stock.

  • Complete maintenance, refurbishment and modification tasks in line with work instructions.

  • Work safely within a production environment, adhering to all health and safety procedures.

  • Support colleagues across different disciplines where required.

  • Identify and report defects or quality issues.

  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the workplace.

  • Work flexibly as part of a multi-disciplined production team.

  • Complete all documentation accurately and in a timely manner.


Essential Requirements



  • City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 (or above), SVQ or equivalent engineering qualification.

  • Mechanical engineering background.

  • Ability to interpret and follow technical work instructions.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Able to work independently when required.

  • Good judgement and attention to detail.


Desirable



  • Electrical experience.

  • Previous rolling stock, rail, automotive, aerospace or heavy engineering experience.

  • Experience working within a production, maintenance or manufacturing environment.


Training


Full on-the-job training will be provided, including site-specific processes and procedures.
