Full Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Nurse with a passion for excellence in patient care and team leadership. In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Nursing and AHP workforce, ensuring the highest standards of clinical quality, patient safety, and governance are consistently maintained. You will work closely with the Directorate Team to drive service improvement, support staff development, and deliver outstanding patient outcomes., To provide senior leadership to the nursing and allied health professional workforce within the directorate(s) to deliver frontline professional and operational priorities and manage the ward and departmental Nurse Managers and specialist nurses/midwives. To support the Clinical Directors and as part of the Directorate management team develop, implement and monitor quality and business plans for the directorates. To facilitate staff andteam development and ensure effective communication systems operate within the Directorates. The matron is expected to work for the clinical and business success of the directorate and to contribute to the corporate success of the Trust. This will require innovation and may include participation in the development of corporate polices and strategic plans and initiating changes in line with Trust Management team decisions to local services., Have frequent visible contact with staff, patients and their carers, and provide feedback about the Trust services, ensuring that concerns that are raised are dealt with quickly and efficiently, ensuring excellent and effective communication takes place. Establish and maintain communication with appropriate stakeholders on potentially complex and stressful topics in a range of situations. To actively participate in the development and delivery of the Trust Nursing Strategy to ensure a culture of proactive interest, good communication and knowledge based on the Trust Strategy. To participate in Trust projects/initiatives as appropriate In conjunction with the Clinical Director and Directorate Manager, ensure that systems for clinical governance are in place with appropriate monitoring mechanisms for their continued effectiveness. The Matron / Allied Health Professional will ensure that effective and robust communication systems are in place for patients, visitors and staff, and will actively promote a culture of health education and ill-health prevention. - Be proactive in seeking patients views and ensure that feedback from patients is valued and acted upon and lessons disseminated, to enable changes in practice if they are necessary. - Continuously seek patient feedback to improve services and care standards. Participate in Back to the Floor and associated meetings. - Establish patient focus groups, as required. - Provide a key link between the area of responsibility and Patient Advocacy Liaison Service (PALS), chaplaincy and other services to support patients and their carers. - Encourage all staff within the sphere of responsibility to take a proactive approach to the resolution of issues, which may give rise to dissatisfaction from patients, their relatives and carers, ensuring effective and comparable resolutions to any concerns expressed. - Develop robust written patient/visitor information They will also develop a culture that is flexible and positive to change, where staff feel valued and where opportunities are actively created for individuals to maximise their potential and excel.
- 1st level Registered Nurse
- Degree level Education
- Evidence of continuous Management Development, minimum of 3 years post registration experience, including 1 year of management experience
- Experience in a Leadership role
