Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for driven and motivated Maternity Care Assistants to join our Maternity Team working in the Antenatal Clinic Outpatients unit at our Darlington or Durham site. You will be supported and welcomed into your role and we are keen to develop our staff to deliver exceptional care to the families of County Durham and Darlington.

  • Experience in teaching and education of groups of service users / colleagues
  • Clinical observation skills eg, Pulse, temperature, Blood Pressure recording., Excellent communication.
  • Proven ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • Approachable and able to build relationships with a wide variety of colleagues.
  • Full driving licence or ability to travel independently.
  • Experience Essential
  • Experience in a Health Care setting.
  • Desirable
  • Maternity or neonatal experience or wide reading around key themes in maternity.
  • Qualifications Essential
  • Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Care Certificate or willingness to complete within the first 6 months of commencement in post.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Desirable
  • Previous experience in a maternity setting.
  • HCA experience within an NHS setting.
  • Ability to carry out clinical observations, recognising and reporting deviations from the norm.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
