The Opportunity

The way we build is changing, and you could be part of what comes next. At Holcim UK, we're finding new ways to make construction more sustainable, innovative and ready for the future. From homes and schools to hospitals and major infrastructure, what we do helps shape the places people live, work and grow. With more than 4,000 colleagues across over 200 sites in the UK, you'll be joining a team that's making a real difference every day.

This isn't just about learning a trade. It's about gaining real skills, working with people who know their stuff and playing your part in building a more sustainable future.

Get into the Science Behind the Build

Curious about science and how sustainable materials are made? Want to test and pioneer the next generation of eco-friendly concrete and aggregates? Looking to earn while you learn? Then come and build your future with Holcim UK.

As a Materials Testing Apprentice, you'll work in our cutting-edge laboratories, testing materials to make sure they meet strict quality, safety and environmental standards.

Get stuck in from day one

You'll be working alongside experienced laboratory technicians and material scientists, getting hands on with testing equipment and sustainable building materials and learning how things work in the real world. You'll build practical skills in materials science, laboratory testing, quality control and data analysis, while working towards a nationally recognised qualification.

Every day will bring something different. You'll have the chance to learn, ask questions, try things out and build your confidence as you go. And because you'll be learning on the job, you'll see the impact of what you do straight away.

Who are we looking for?

You don't need to know everything about materials science already. We're looking for people who are methodical, curious and passionate about science. If you're the kind of person who pays attention to detail, likes conducting tests and cares about quality, we'd love to hear from you.

You'll also have the opportunity to show us what you can do through a practical skills assessment, giving you the chance to demonstrate your natural ability and problem solving skills.

Ready to build something bigger?

You'll earn while you learn, gain a recognised qualification and build real experience that can take you wherever you want to go. Your career starts here. Come build it with Holcim UK.

We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
