Introduction
Devon County Council is seeking a motivated Materials Engineering Apprentice to join our respected Materials Laboratory team at Rockbeare Hill.
You will have a keen interest in engineering, enjoy problem-solving, and are dedicated to achieving excellent results in both your work and apprenticeship studies.

What You'll Do
Alongside completing your apprenticeship qualification, as part of the programme you’ll also have the opportunity to work in the following areas:
- Ground and Pavement Investigations
- Asphalt Testing
- Soils Testing
- Concrete Testing
In addition, you’ll also benefit from:
- On-going support and reviews on your progress
- Attendance on apprentice development sessions
- Further training in line with your qualification and role, to help personal development
Training Outcome
- This is an extremely exciting time to join us as we are expanding our apprenticeship offer to invest in the future council workforce
- There are no guarantees of employment at the end of the Step In Programme, but we would expect the apprentice to apply for further employment, ideally within the council or within the wider Devon economy
