The mask fit tester will ensure staff members required to wear FFP3 masks as per the HSE/UKHSA / National Infection Control Guidelines are appropriately fit tested to the correct mask.

To ensure that respirators (re-usable and single use) fit the face of an individual in order to provide respiratory protection against harmful pathogens.

To support IPCT to ensure staff understand how to use personal protective equipment.

Independently and competently provide a safe mask fit testing experience for staff.

Undertake coaching and explanation on what a fit test incorporates. This should be in a manner clearly understandable to those being fitted.

Maintain accurate records of fit testing using standard computer skills.

Escalate service issues to the team leader.

Safely undertake mask fit testing to the agreed standard.

In the absence of an administrator, Fit testers will manage telephone enquiries and book appointments using available electronic systems.

Support trials and evaluations of new FFP3 masks as advised completing documentation as necessary.

Support training of staff in use of other personal protective equipment (PPE) in collaboration with the Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT).

Support audit of compliance with mask fit testing and PPE as required, in collaboration with the IPCT.

Maintain effective infection prevention control standards at all times.

Ensure Team Leader is kept abreast of any issues related to stock, equipment malfunction, appointments, non-attendance, issues not immediately resolved etc.

Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to exercise diplomacy and a good telephone manner.

Maintain confidentially regarding all matters relating to the service including but not limited to staff information.
