Introduction
As a 2D Manufacturing Technician Apprentice, you will work with experts, learning the specialist skills required to manufacture carbon fibre fabrics. You will gain hands-on experience operating weaving equipment, producing composite materials and developing technical knowledge required for a successful career within advanced manufacturing.
About the Employer
Sigmatex is manufacturing company, specialising in advanced carbon fibre textiles for composite materials, supplying industries such as aerospace, automotive, marine and energy. The company has been operating since 1986 and is recognised for designing and producing high-performance carbon fibre fabrics, including recycled material solutions.
What You'll Do
- Learn to safely operate and maintain mechanical weaving looms.
- Develop the skills required to weave advanced carbon fibre fabrics to exact specifications
- Learn the process of warping and preparing looms for production
- Assist with machine set-up, adjustments and routine maintenance activities
- Carry out quality checks to ensure products meet customer and company standards
- Follow manufacturing procedures, work instructions and health & safety requirements
- Work alongside experienced technicians to develop practical manufacturing technical skills
- Record production and quality information accurately
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment
Training Outcome
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice could potentially have a permanent role within our business with opportunities for long-term career progression and further technical development.
