About the Role
Our client, an innovative company at the cutting edge of electric propulsion technology, requires a talented Manufacturing Quality Engineer to lead APQP activities on an urgent project. This is a contract role outside IR35.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluating manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs applying knowledge of product design, testing, assembly, tooling, and materials conferring with equipment vendors soliciting observations from operators
- Supporting manufacturing demand by relieving bottlenecks and problem-solving production constraints attending breakdowns and reacting efficiently to escalation from manufacturing teams
- Developing manufacturing processes by studying product requirements researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment conferring with equipment vendors
- Improving manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Conducting FAI (First Article Inspection) reports and customer-specific documentation (e.g., PPAP, APQP)
- Providing manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labour, and material costs reviewing production schedules estimating future requirements
- Preparing product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends
Requirements:
- A degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent
- Experience working within an automotive or aerospace Tier 1 in a manufacturing environment
- Good understanding of continuous improvement methods and lean techniques
- Familiar with process techniques and documentation such as FMEAs, process flows, work instructions, control plans etc.
- Hands-on experience with bespoke equipment, tooling, and automation
- Good understanding of design for assembly and manufacturing constraints for high-volume manufacture
- Confident with both internal and external customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues
