Full Job Description

The Manufacturing Line Leader - Production will oversee a high-speed produce manufacturing line at Wm Morrison Supermarkets Limited's Rushden facility. You will drive continuous improvement, maintain strict food safety and quality standards, and motivate the team to meet demanding output targets while delivering safe, fresh products to our customers. Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the production team on the produce line.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for speed, quality, and safety, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, BRC, and internal food safety procedures.
  • Conduct regular line audits and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Train, coach, and develop operatives to enhance skill levels and productivity.
  • Manage shift handovers, ensuring accurate communication of production status and issues.
  • Maintain equipment readiness, reporting faults and coordinating maintenance promptly.
  • Control inventory of raw materials and finished goods to minimise waste.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for any quality deviations or line stoppages.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and zero-tolerance for safety breaches.

    GCSEs or equivalent; further technical qualifications a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in food manufacturing or a similar production environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience on a fast-paced line.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards (HACCP, BRC).
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules and quality documentation.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic numeracy for KPI tracking and inventory control.
  • Flexibility to work shift patterns, including early mornings and weekends.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and quality excellence.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 kg.
