Full Job Description
Introduction
Apprentices will gain a great understanding of processes across the shop floor, including machine and manual methods of engineering, quality, sales, customer management and stores.
About the Employer
Summit Engineering, based in Solihull, specialise in the manufacture and engineering of metal components, supplying into the aerospace, oil & gas and defence industries.
What You'll Do
- The apprentice will receive a detailed plan which works alongside their college course
- This plan will incorporate most areas of the business so that they can get a good understanding of the whole process from quotation to shipping the completed product
- They will spend a specified period of time in each area where they will have a dedicated mentor, monthly reviews and final assessments in line with what they are learning at college
- Areas covered include, sales, customer account management, manufacturing engineering, CNC machining, milling, turning and grinding, quality inspection and dispatch
Training Outcome
Long term career progression could be a supervisory position in production, a manufacturing engineer, a quality engineer, or business development. Short term could be an apprenticeship degree in a chosen/related field.

- Essential - GCSE - English - 4 or above

Working Arrangements
Working Week: Monday to Thursday 6am - 4.15pm OR 7am - 5.15pm. We don’t work Fridays, but sometimes there is a need for overtime.
