Full Job Description

As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will co-ordinate a number of services delivered by the team, supporting The Forming and Semi-Finish areas of the Washington site and managing and supporting the Manufacturing Engineering team for the areas. Ensuring safely, reliably and efficiently meet the daily business expectations in terms of SHE, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People for the delivery of ammunition components is also a key part of the role. Core duties:

  • You will represent Manufacturing Engineering at daily SQCDP meeting, raising and managing issues and actions accordingly
  • You will be the authority for Manufacturing Engineering in the Production Readiness Review process
  • You will have overall responsibility for the health and safety of the designated manufacturing area
  • You will ensure the provision and management of a Safe System of Work (SSOW) to include Manufacturing Instructions (SOPs) and General Risk, PUWER and COSHH assessments in line with company and statutory requirements
  • You will ensure that Basis of Safety (BoS) and process trilogies are up to date and maintained in a timely manner
  • You will support and manage the manufacturing section Safety Improvement Plans
  • Essential Skills:
  • You will hold a degree in an Engineering / Operational Discipline or be time served experience in an engineering / manufacturing
  • You will be qualified in NEBOSH / IOSH and / or Environmental Managing Safety (or working towards)
  • You will have proven success in implementing and sustaining continuous improvement activities
  • You will be experienced in leading and managing a cross-functional team, in a targets driven environment
  • You will hold Green belt / Yellow belt (or above) Six Sigma
  • The Maintenance Management Team: You will be in a key team that oversees and supports the whole Washington site, engaging with a range of stakeholders, internally. This is a key process area within the site and 90% of parts produced will pass through this area/site.
