Full Job Description
Provide overall leadership for the LHP programme on behalf of LHP's Partner organisations. Build highly effective senior relationships across the health and science community to support delivery of LHP's strategy. Agree the overall scope, objectives and priorities for the programme with the Chair and the LHP Board, managing the performance of LHP using Key Performance Indicators. Manage existing relationships and understand the needs of clients to ensure they are being met effectively, continually validating the LHP vision and common purpose with member organisations Ensure member organisations and clients have timely and effective access to LHP's services to create new partnerships and generate commercial and public investment. Convene discussions on key future research areas and deliver initiatives to aid relationship building and engagement with and across partner organisations Ensure effective governance of all the LHP activities, ensuring transparency and value for money against the circa £1.2m budget per annum. Attend and, in collaboration with LUHFT as hosts, provide regular reports to the LHP board and its partner organisations. Progress the LHP strategy towards a cohesive plan and shared narrative and communicating this to stakeholders, Provide leadership and example in creating the optimal culture for LHP to deliver its strategic plan effectively:
- Develop close working relationships with partner organisations and a wide range of other multi- agency organisations
- Act as the senior representative and ambassador for LHP, locally, regionally, nationally and, where necessary, internationally
- Provide visible leadership to build and sustain a high-calibre team and culture Deliver the LHP strategy through a series of coherent, well-organised and ambitious workstreams, developed and implemented with stakeholders:
- Ensure that the workstreams and their benefits are understood by and remain relevant to all key stakeholders.
- Help to grow the LHP Brand and deliver maximum value for the Partners and the Liverpool City Region Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy to support delivery and:
- Build highly effective senior relationships across the health and science community to support delivery of LHP's strategy
- Work collaboratively with academic and commercial partners, provider organisations, local and central government to deliver the LHP strategic priorities. Support the development of a positive narrative about Liverpool:
- Amplify activity of member organisations, the LHP workstreams and other assets across the city region to present a positive narrative on health and life sciences
- Mobilise and present, in order to influence perception, opportunities and policy, the insights available from across LHP - to regional and national stakeholders such as politicians, government and funding agencies Ensure that member organisations are bought into the process, amplifying messages where possible and augmenting the narrative to focus a pan-regional opportunities and successes.
- Degree or equivalent and subsequent experience in a related field
- Master's degree/postgraduate qualification in a related field, Substantial experience of administration Significant experience of working in a complex life sciences organisation, University, or NHS Trust at a senior management level
- Experience of working closely with commercial organisations to develop partnerships.
- A thorough understanding of the life science sector, both public and private sector, gained through experience in health or life science organisations Desirable criteria
- Significant leadership experience at board level in a complex organisation with multiple stakeholders, Gravitas, credibility, political acumen and judgement with the ability to represent LHP, communicate its vision and attract investment
- Ability to motivate and support development of a positive team culture
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal presentation and communication skills
- Ability to convene and facilitate change to achieve challenging goals
- Proven leadership skills
- A strategic thinker with a proven track record in delivering strategic plans working across multi-agency partners
- Ability to market LHP's services including identifying new opportunities to increase collaboration and inward investment
- Ability to analyse, interpret and convey highly complex information
- Ability to solve problems effectively
- Highly developed negotiating, persuading and influencing skills
Liverpool Health Partners is the Academic Health Science System for the Liverpool City Region. it is a membership-led organisation comprising academic and NHS partners. LHP convenes across, and advocates on behalf of, its member organisations and the excellence they represent. We have a mandate from the universities and NHS Trusts which are our members, to work across the health and life sciences sector in the region and, together, deliver health, economic and societal benefit. This post is being created as part of the ongoing establishment of LHP as an initiative within Liverpool Universities Hospitals NHS FT (LUHFT) and Liverpool City Region (LCR). It requires a leader who can deliver against the ambitions of LHP. The post holder will need to be and effective leader within the LHP Team, within the partnership and on the regional, national and international stage. The post holder will have overall responsibility for LHP activity. They will work with the LHP Board Chair and Board membership to ensure that the work of LHP is constantly aligned to the aspiration of member organisations and to the benefit of the city region. The post will be very much partner-focussed, ensuring that the work LHP does fits with the aspirations of our members and engages them in the delivery. Please note that this is a 6 month secondment in the first instance and open exclusively to applications from LHP partner organisations., Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital & Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Broadgreen Hospital is home to elective surgical, diagnostic and treatment services, together with specialist patient rehabilitation. Liverpool Women's Hospital specialises in the health of women and babies, delivering over 7,200 babies in the UK's largest single site maternity hospital each year. The Royal Liverpool University Hospital is the largest hospital in the country to provide inpatients with 100% single bedrooms and focuses on complex planned care and specialist services.
