Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Manager at Newbury Library. Our aim is to encourage reading for all ages through traditional library services as well as new digital technologies. We are aiming to increase usage of library services and foster better links with community groups as well as the general public. You will be part of our senior management team and will contribute to the overall planning, management and development of the library service. You will be in charge of the operational management of Newbury Library including the management of staff and volunteers., As the Manager of Newbury Library, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective operation and day-to-day management of Newbury library and supporting the Libraries Outreach Offer. You will work closely with the Libraries Manager to ensure the effective delivery of library services and the achievement of key objectives. You will be part of our senior management team and will contribute to the overall planning, management and development of the library service. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading and motivating a team of library staff and volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment
- Implementing, promoting and delivering library services, programmes, and initiatives in line with community needs
- Monitoring and evaluating service performance, providing regular reports to the Libraries Manager
- Building effective partnerships with local organisations, community groups, and stakeholders
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: - Proven experience in managing and leading a team, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders
- A passion for libraries, proactive and able to develop ideas to improve the library service we provide to our communities
- Knowledge of current trends and developments in library and information services
- Flexible, innovative and accepts change
- Excellent IT and communication skills
