The External Reporting & Disclosures (ER&D) team is a critical function, responsible for external financial and non financial reporting for the firm. Its purpose is to integrate statutory financial reporting with other regulatory disclosures, ensuring consistent, high quality outputs through clear accountability, strong controls, and efficient processes. The team provides the rigour needed to meet evolving regulatory and governance requirements, enhancing reporting quality, reducing risk, and enabling more integrated strategic insights., We are seeking an experienced and technical professional with a statutory financial reporting and/or external audit background to join our External Reporting & Disclosures team. Reporting into the Financial Reporting Lead, you will be a key member of the team, playing a crucial role in the delivery of the statutory financial statements for the Deloitte LLP group and overseeing their external audits. You will ensure that all financial reports are accurate, timely, and comply with applicable accounting standards (both IFRS and FRS 102) and Company Law. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to team development and drive process improvements within a dynamic environment.,
- Play a leading role in the preparation and review of statutory financial statements across the Deloitte LLP group, ensuring adherence to relevant accounting standards (IFRS & FRS 102) and Company Law.
- Support the year-end external audit process, ensuring it runs efficiently, effectively, and in line with agreed timetables.
- Draft comprehensive technical accounting papers for complex transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, restructuring, and impairments.
- Drive improvements in the documentation of internal systems/processes and contribute to the ongoing development of the overall control environment.
- Maintain the accounting policy manual for the Deloitte LLP group and ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations.
- Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of bank covenant calculations.
- Provide technical accounting support to the senior management team and the wider business as required.
- Manage a small team of financial reporting professionals, including providing training, setting goals, and conducting performance management.
We are looking for a highly skilled and technically proficient finance professional with the following: - A fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or equivalent (e.g., MBA, CFA) with post-qualification experience gained within a complex, fast-paced environment, preferably within professional services.
- A strong understanding of IFRS, FRS 102, and Company Law.
- Years of experience working in a statutory financial reporting or external audit environment for a large organisation.
- Significant experience in the preparation and review of financial statements, managing the external audit process, and working with complex accounting issues.
- Significant experience in managing a team of financial professionals, including goal setting, providing feedback, and developing talent.
- A strong understanding of risk management and control principles.
- A proactive approach and a continuous process improvement mindset.
- Significant experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines effectively.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in their work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to a variety of stakeholders, including senior management and external auditors.
- Experience of using SAP is preferred, but not essential.
- Experience of working in a professional services organisation is preferred, but not essential.
