Full Job Description
To act as a senior manager, overseeing the delivery of world-class financial reporting services to a portfolio of private equity clients and to drive improved business performance, measured through both top-line growth but also efficiency and operational improvement and reduction of risk. To provide a source of technical knowledge and experience for all of Gen II. What you'll be doing Your role may include, but will not be limited to, the following tasks which we call 'Defined Business Activities'. The list of defined business activities is not exhaustive and may be amended from time to time: Managerial
- Oversight of accounting teams
- People line management
- Responsibility for the financial management of the team
- Ensure team adherence to internal company procedures
- Development/enhancement of team specific procedures Accounting
- Responsibility for a portfolio of clients
- Reviewing and signing off on capital activity (drawdowns, distributions etc) and statements
- Manage the timely and accurate production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reports by the team
- Ensure financial statements prepared are in line with IFRS/UK GAAP or other appropriate standards
- Liaise with auditors in respect of the financial audit of client entities as required
- Attend client meetings in respect of accounting matters as required New Business
- Liaise with new clients, business introducers and intermediaries
- Assist with the client acceptance process for new clients Project Management
- Leads and drives business change including driving adoption of FIS Investran
- Involvement with Group projects as either a member of a committee or as team leader Development of others
- Development of training
- Coach team in relation to client activities and Gen II procedures
- Coach team in relation to time management, financial management and prioritisation skills Financial Management
- Ensure all clients invoiced correct frequency and correct amount
- Monitor and develop strategies to improve recoverability and profitability
- Ensure fee arrangements are appropriate and remain so
- Monitor and manage aged debts for team Time Management
- Prioritising own and team workflow
- Dealing with matters in a timely manner
Recognised accounting qualification (ACCA or ACA) - Sound academic background Experience
- 10 years' experience working within private equity or fund accounting
- Comprehensive and detailed understanding and knowledge of the local finance industry legislation and regulatory requirements in which we operate
- Excellent understanding of client financial reporting
- Performance management of a team Knowledge
- Good knowledge and understanding of current industry, legislation and regulation and working practices
- Exceptional knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP and a good understanding of other appropriate accounting standards
- Experience of managing the preparation of NAV calculations and capital statements
This role is based in our Southampton office. Although the nature of most of the roles within Gen II cannot be classed as totally flexible, there is scope in some cases for a form of Agile Working. The different ways in which Agile Working can be undertaken is dependent on the demands and needs of the business, the office space available and the individual's preferences and circumstances.
