Full Job Description

Reporting to the Institute Manager, the Management Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial management of the UCL Cancer Institute. Working closely with senior leaders, budget holders and colleagues across UCL Finance, you will provide high-quality financial advice, management information and business planning support. Responsibilities include leading the Institute's budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processes, monitoring income and expenditure, and producing clear financial reports to support decision-making. You will provide financial advice to academic and professional services colleagues, support business case development and financial modelling, and ensure compliance with UCL financial regulations and procedures. The role is also responsible for managing month-end and year-end processes, maintaining robust financial controls, and supporting the effective management of a diverse portfolio of accounts. In addition, you will line manage and develop two Finance Administrators, helping to ensure a responsive and high-performing finance service. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive finance professional to develop their experience in a complex and dynamic environment while contributing to the delivery of world-leading cancer research. You will also play an important role in identifying opportunities for process improvement and enhancing financial services across the Institute. This vacancy is available as an internal secondment opportunity. Are you an experienced finance professional looking to broaden your strategic financial management experience in a complex and research-intensive environment?, We are seeking a qualified or part-qualified finance professional with experience of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting in a complex organisation. You will have strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and explain financial information clearly to a wide range of stakeholders. You will be customer-focused, proactive and detail-oriented, with experience of supporting or developing staff and managing competing priorities. Experience within Higher Education and familiarity with Oracle, MyFinance or Axiom planning tools would be advantageous.
