Are you a passionate, confident, and experienced AAT qualified, part-qualified or qualified accountant with a desire to support sustainable change and strong financial management in services that make a real difference to Leicestershire residents? We are looking to recruit a Management Accountant to support our Growth, Environment and Transport and Corporate Resources departments. About the Role As a Management Accountant, you will be an important member of the Growth, Environment and Transport and Corporate Resources Business Partner Team that provides financial management support and business advice to service departments, whilst ensuring strong and sustainable links are maintained with the Corporate Centre. The role will focus on the delivery of accurate, timely and relevant financial information to Senior Managers including financial reporting and analysis, financial planning and submissions to government or partner organisations. The role is also an exciting opportunity to play an active part in identifying options that can be taken to optimise short and long-term financial performance and service delivery (efficiency).
This post is Grade 11 (£39,939 - £42,699 pay award pending) with the opportunity for post holders committed to work towards a CCAB or equivalent qualification; or already studying towards a CCAB or equivalent qualification; to progress onto Grade 12 (£43,860 - £47,829 pay award pending) upon qualifying and demonstrating a number of skills and competencies. To apply for this role at Grade 11, you must:
- Hold a NVQ level 4 in a relevant area and Membership of AAT or equivalent
- Have proven ability to: Communicate technical financial information to non-finance specialists in an easily understandable way, both in written form and face to face.
- Demonstrate a flexible approach to meet changing demands.
- Tailor communications to meet different and diverse needs, maintaining consistency of key corporate messages.
- Work co-operatively across team and service boundaries to improve performance.
- Take action to implement new ideas within areas of responsibility.
- Take responsibility for organising own work to achieve objectives in order of priority. To progress to Grade 12, you must:
- Hold a CCAB or equivalent qualification, OR
- Have demonstrable experience of working at Grade 12 (as stated below) in a Finance function with a commitment to working towards a CCAB or equivalent qualification
- Have a proven ability to meet the Grade 11 criteria (as outlined above) AND: Resolve financial problems, particularly efficiency, with sound workable solutions.
- Develop links between financial and operational information to ensure business objectives and financial objectives are met.
- Demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of Finance best practice, reporting, forecasting, and budgeting techniques, alongside best practice and efficiency of financial analysis techniques.
- Interpret and use financial information to inform decisions and manage risks
- Take steps to gain a clear understanding of customer needs and expectations
- Demonstrates an appropriate level of influence and persuasion and are able to argue own case
- Encourage others to seek opportunities for improvements and increased efficiency. In addition, we also expect you to share and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents.
