Are you an experienced finance leader ready to make a big impact in a large and complex organisation? We're looking for a proactive and forward-thinking Senior Management Accountant to deliver high-quality financial services, strengthen financial controls, and influence strategic decision-making across the Council. This role provides financial support to Children's Services., You'll be a confident, collaborative, and solutions-focused finance professional who thrives in a complex environment. You bring a strong technical background combined with the leadership qualities needed to inspire and develop a high-performing team., Corporate Finance sets the overall financial strategy for the Council as well as the financial, risk and control assurance framework. The service is responsible for co-ordinating the Medium-Term Financial Plan, as well overseeing essential services, from statutory financial reporting and pensions administration to strategic procurement and supplier relationship management, as well as financial support for major projects. Our expert staff work collaboratively to set a balanced budget and review the Council's financial framework and procedures and to establish an appropriate assurance framework. Now is an exciting time to join Corporate Finance as we continue to play a key role in supporting all front-line services, ensuring that value for money is achieved and financial activities are directed towards the Council's priorities.

- Substantial experience as a technical or professional finance expert within a large, complex organisation.
- Strong expertise in financial reporting, accounting standards, budget management, forecasting, and financial control.
- Deep understanding of financial policies, legislation, external funding, grants, and statutory returns.
- Extensive knowledge of local government finance and wider sector influences.
- Proven experience managing major financial projects, change initiatives, and system/process improvements.
- Outstanding communication, persuasion and influencing skills.
- Excellent analytical ability with strong ICT capability, including Microsoft applications., You will be a confident and influential finance professional with substantial experience in a large and complex organisation. A natural leader, you inspire and develop others while maintaining high performance standards and strong professional credibility. You bring expert knowledge of financial reporting, accounting standards, budget management, forecasting, grants, statutory returns and local government finance. With excellent analytical ability, you can interpret complex financial information, identify trends and risks, and communicate insights clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences. You thrive in a changing environment, managing projects, improving systems and processes, and driving innovation in financial services. Fully CCAB/CIMA qualified and educated to degree level, you combine strategic awareness with exceptional problem-solving skills, strong ICT capability for example SAP, and the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes and deliver customer-focused solutions.
