Full Job Description

1. To maintain the highest professional standards of technical ability, efficiency and care under the terms of the mammography postgraduate certificate. Maintaining consistent physical effort and manual dexterity to produce specialist radiographic images demanded by the service with precision and speed.

2. Assist consultant radiologist/ radiographer with diagnosis by undertaking additional radiographic procedures as requested for women returning for assessment, including using digital systems for stereo-tactic biopsies and Magseed insertion procedures.

3. To perform all examinations to the highest quality with adherence to departmental protocols and procedures including British and European Law, Ionising Radiation regulations (2018) and Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017.

4. To validate and justify imaging requests under IRMER, and assess urgency to plan workload for department and to discuss problems within the multi-disciplinary team.

6. The ability to work under pressure with an unpredictable workload, requiring prolonged periods of concentration in order to provide the optimum diagnostic service.

The Trust's services are provided from three locations:

o The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 473 general and acute beds.o Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 60 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.o Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust employs 5,964 staff (headcount) to provide care and treatment to a population of over 400,000 people living in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire.
