Full Job Description

As a Maintenance Pilot, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This is a highly autonomous position requiring significant military aviation experience and a thorough understanding of operating from both military and civilian airfields. Your flying expertise will play a vital role in maintaining aircraft readiness and supporting operational commitments across the UK. Day-to-day you'll be:

  • Conducting aircraft delivery and positioning flights to maintenance and training locations.
  • Operating safely and effectively from military and civilian airfields.
  • Maintaining compliance with aviation regulations, operating procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Supporting aircraft availability through the timely completion of flying tasks.
  • Collaborating with operational, training, and maintenance stakeholders to achieve programme objectives.
  • This role is based primarily at RAF Cranwell, with duties also supporting RAF Wittering and other LAFT locations as required. The position operates on a zero-hours contract and may require travel and occasional overnight stays in support of operational tasking.

  • Extensive experience operating within a military aviation environment.
  • Experience operating from military and civilian airfields.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong decision-making skills and situational awareness in operational flying environments.
  • Qualifications for the Maintenance Pilot:
  • UK CAA Part-FCL Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) with Instrument Rating (IR), including PBN.
  • Single Engine Piston (Land) qualification.
  • UK CAA Class 1 Medical Certificate without limitations.
  • Previous attendance at Military Authoriser and Supervisor courses would be advantageous.
  • Previous military light aircraft instructional flying experience would be advantageous., The successful candidate must have the ability to achieve and maintain Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
