Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician (Authorised Person) to join the on-site engineering team at a busy community hospital., Working as part of a close-knit team of four engineers, you'll play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant and reliable operation of the hospital's estate. Your primary focus will be the planned and reactive maintenance, fault-finding and statutory compliance of the site's electrical systems, while also supporting wider building services where required. This varied role offers the opportunity to work across a range of electrical and building services assets, including HVAC, water systems, fire safety systems and general building fabric, helping to ensure the hospital remains safe, fully operational and compliant at all times. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer with Authorised Person experience who enjoys a hands-on, multi-skilled role within a critical healthcare environment. Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance and fault-finding on electrical systems and associated plant.
  • Maintain and test electrical installations in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Support maintenance across wider M&E services, including water systems, HVAC, fire safety systems and building fabric where trained and competent.
  • Respond to Helpdesk requests and emergency breakdowns within agreed service levels.
  • Complete maintenance records and statutory documentation accurately using Maximo CAFM.
  • Work safely in accordance with Permit to Work procedures, safe isolation and electrical safety standards.
  • Support statutory compliance activities including emergency lighting inspections, fire alarm testing, water hygiene tasks and other planned compliance checks.
  • Assist with minor plumbing repairs, blockages, water softener checks and general fabric maintenance when required.
  • Participate in the on-call rota and contribute to maintaining operational resilience across the hospital.
  • Maintain technical competency through ongoing training and contract-specific qualifications.

    NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Valid ECS Card.
  • Previous experience working as an Authorised Person (AP) or Competent Person (CP) within a commercial, healthcare or critical environment.
  • Experience carrying out electrical PPMs, reactive maintenance and fault-finding.
  • Good understanding of statutory compliance and safe systems of work.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to support wider maintenance activities outside your core electrical trade
