Full Job Description

The Derby Lymphovascular Medicine Service is seeking to recruit a passionate and enthusiastic new team leader at our Kings Mill Hospital Clinic. The service provides clinics in Derby, Long Eaton Health Centre (Nottingham) and Kings Mill Hospital (Mansfield). The successful applicant will be based at our Kings Mill Hospital site, however cross site cover may be required. This is a multidisciplinary service and the new team leader can be a Registered Nurse, Podiatrist, Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist. Our team currently consists of a Medical Team, Band 8 Advanced Nurse Practitioner with a Band 7 Team Leader, Band 6 Clinical Specialist Lymphoedema Therapists, Clinical Support Workers, and Administrators working in each of the clinics. The clinics operate Monday to Friday. The service offers outpatient appointments to adults and children with lymphoedema of varying causes, including primary lymphoedema and secondary lymphoedema. The service also sees patients with vascular and lymphatic malformations, segmental overgrowth and lipoedema., The lymphoedema team leader provides the day to day leadership and management of the team. This includes providing expert opinion and support to other members in the team, managing the other clinical members of the team and undertaking your own clinical caseload. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and responsible for assessing patients, planning treatment, delivering care and evaluating treatment plans. You will be required to deliver a range of lymphoedema treatments including multi-layer lymphoedema bandaging. You will work with the senior leadership team to develop and deliver initiatives within the clinics. These include work on capacity and demand, hosiery utilisation, training and education, audit and patient outcomes.

Previous experience in treating lymphoedema is essential. A good understanding of compression garments, indications of use and the ability to apply compression bandaging is also advantageous. Previous experience of leading a team is preferred.
