Job responsibilities, main duties and objectives The LV/HV Technician (AP) is to deliver skilled HV/LV site activities for the Electrical Networks & Infrastructure: Customer Networks Business Unit in a timely and professional manner, always ensuring compliance with QHSE policies and procedures and maintaining high customer service standards. Will be responsible for the safe, cost-effective delivery of Inspection, Maintenance, Remedial Fault activities and small to medium sized customer network/HV projects across varied facilities, such as data centres, factories, C&I units/estates and grid scale renewable plants.
  • Execution of project, maintenance and remedial activities on privately owned HV/LV networks. This may include the inspection of assets, maintenance of switchgear, termination of LV cables, installation of cable/containment systems, earthing, transformers, HV/LV switchgear and associated small power and control wiring.
  • To be appointed as a Competent/Authorised Person under the company Electrical Distribution Safety Rules and execute a range of activities in accordance with the level of authorisation.
  • Demonstrate effective individual and collective Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) leadership and promote an enthusiastic and growth minded culture.
  • Manage QHSE matters proactively in accordance with the business policy statement, corporate guidelines and legislation.
  • Progress to "Senior Authorised Person" status by ensuring that key training, audit and record keeping requirements are met.
  • Ensure company procedures are followed during the execution of all Customer Networks/EN & I activities.
  • Compile Risk Assessments and Method statements, complete audits and site inspections as appropriate assessing against QHSE benchmarks.
  • · Actively support tendering process by carrying out site surveys, pricing and scope writing to agreed timescales. · Establish working relationships with supply chain representatives to execute projects efficiently
  • Take responsibility for company issue tools, vehicle, equipment, and PPE ensuring inspection, calibration and testing are all carried out when required.
  • Liaise effectively between the Customer Networks Business and other departments.
  • Ensure all site documentation is completed and return in a prompt manner and to a high standard.
  • Communicate in a technically accurate and professional manner with customers and colleagues and be willing to seek assistance / guidance from peers when necessary.
  • Take part in the Authorised Persons standby rota and provide initial fault response as required to meet customer needs.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced team members, assisting them in meeting their own objectives.
  • This job role will require some overnight/away working to ensure deadlines/work/projects/inspections are carried out at times to suit the project/customer/business needs. Travel, accommodation and expenses available as per Mitie Policy.

  • Qualifications and experience
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and able to motivate staff to meet tight deadlines.
  • Appropriate electrical qualification such as City & Guilds, NVQ, ONC, HNC, BTEC or equivalent.
  • 5 years practical experience of installation, maintenance, and remedial work activities on privately owned 33/11/0.415kV equipment.
  • An industrial background with low voltage training and experience to BS7671 with Inspection & Testing (C&G2391 or equivalent) is required.
  • Has previously held NICEIC QS (Qualified Supervisor) status is desirable.
  • EUSR/ECS/CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving licence
