Full Job Description
We want people who demonstrate personal qualities of dedication, patience, flexibility and humour. They will be able to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as respond quickly to the changing needs of the school and individual children.
Some experience of working with children would be useful though not essential as full support will be given to the successful applicants.
The role will involve supervising our children to ensure that lunchtime is a fun, active and enjoyable time of the day. The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise the children in the dining room and outside. This will involve supporting children while they eat their lunch, helping to keep the area clean and tidy and ensuring the school discipline and safeguarding procedures are implemented at all times.
The role will be based in Early Years, helping our younger children. It will also involve checking/cleaning washrooms before the afternoon Nursery session starts.
What the school offers its staff
For children and staff alike, Scholes (Elmet) has:

- Friendly, welcoming staff
- A great atmosphere and ethos which promotes inclusion and co-operation
- A commitment to diversity and a workforce that reflects the population of Leeds
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare and safety (thorough checks will be made of the successful applicant's background credentials, including enhanced DBS checks)
In school, we recognise the value of AI tools and understand that applicants might choose to use these in the application. Please note that applications which stand out are those which are personal and allow us to 'get to know you'.
Safeguarding
This post involves substantial contact with children. Safeguarding is a key requirement and responsibility.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and wellbeing of all children. We expect our staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
As part of this and all recruitments, we carry out thorough safeguarding checks. This includes (not an exhaustive list of the recruitment checks):
1. an online search to help identify any incidents or issues which might compromise your professional role
2. obtaining two references, one of which is from the candidate's current or most recent employer
3. a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for the successful candidate
