We are looking for 5 Learning Support Assistants to support Dorton College students from a range of different backgrounds with vision impairment, to effectively access their courses within the VI Centre of Excellence at Nescot, Epsom.

Some main duties of this role include:

  • Support the delivery of learning programmes delivered at Nescot
  • Promote the students independence and learning skills
  • Safeguarding of students, understanding relevant protocol, reporting concerns promptly following the College procedures
  • Produce adapted classroom resources, providing classroom support or supported study, for a range of courses
  • Support the students to fully participate in a range of learning and leisure activities.
  • Use ICT and other technologies, to adapt classroom resources in students' preferred mediums.

The ideal candidate will have GCSE's or equivalent level 2 qualification including English and Maths; excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to use ICT software including Work and Outlook; understanding and awareness of individual needs and ability to adapt or adjust; knowledge of how the support role promotes independent learning and personal development.

Previous experience of working with vision impaired young people is not required.
