Full Job Description
- This will be delivering outpatient Rheumatology services to the local population serviced by the George Eliot Hospital Trust, to share facilities and provide continuity to patients, staff and deliver high standards of care.
- This is a full-time post for a pure Consultant Rheumatologist (10 PA).
- The appointee will work in collaboration with the other Rheumatologist in the Trust.
- The job plan below is an indicative example of a job plan. A formal job plan will be agreed between the post holder,colleagues and the Directorate Clinical Director soon after the commencement date and will be effective from that date.The Job Plan, a prospective agreement that sets out a consultant's duties, responsibilities andobjectives, will be reviewed periodically. Annual consultant appraisals will be carried out as part of the National Revalidation process. The post holder will have access to secretarial support from two band four secretaries and a band three team secretary. Along with radiology including MRI,CTand Ultrasound service. The service also has access to pathology servicesand full operationalsupportfrom General and Operational Managers. The balance between Direct Clinical Care (DCC) activities and Supporting programmed Activities (SPA) will be agreed with the candidate as part of theinitialjob planning process. For a full time post it isanticipatedthat 7.5-8.5 programmed activities (PA) will be for DCC, 1.5-2.5 PAs for SPA.
- A major focus for the department is expanding its ultrasound scanning abilities and training the specialist nurses and Doctor(s) to focus on inflammatory arthritis with the team in collaboration with Local university links and on site mentors within the Radiology department.
- There are monthly Rheumatology team meetings and new biological weekly MDTs is in the process of being arranged with the team dedicated Rheumatology Pharmacist, Clinical Nurse Specialists and physiotherapy team to which service development SPA is allocated in the job plan to assist in the development of this service. A special interest will be welcomed and encouraged to grow and advance the team and service.
