Full Job Description
This is a temporary consultant post to cover maternity leave.
Royal Stoke Hospital has a purpose built 5 chair department shared with two restorative chairs and multiple maxillofacial surgeries. The surgeries are safe for independent working with access to air filtration.
UHNM also includes County Hospital in Stafford which underwent expansion and updating and had five orthodontic surgeries and two max fac consultation/treatment rooms.
The post holder will be expected to undertake the diagnosis and treatment of a range of complex orthodontic clinical cases as well as provision of teaching and training within the department and regionally.
Both departments have in-house radiography teams with access to digital radiography including OPG, Lateral Ceph and CBCT imaging.
The department uses digital technology with intraoral 3D scanning for records and indirect bonding procedures are available.
There is a large on-site laboratory at Stoke serving both sites for fabrication of appliances and there is close team working with the laboratory using digital imaging for indirect bonding, fabricating more complex appliances and for orthognathic planning., · To provide ongoing orthodontic clinical care for a range of complex orthodontic cases.
· To assess new patients and develop treatment plans for direct and indirect care.
· To supervise StR and therapist treatments ongoing within the department
· To take part in the provision of MDT clinics in orthognathic surgery and restorative dentistry.
· To take part in the management of the department supporting the clinical lead in developing local service provision and supporting treatment in primary care.
· To engage in quality improvement activities including local and regional audit meetings and engagement with the Staffordshire managed clinical network. It would be expected during tenure to take on the role of chair of the managed clinical network at some point., · To provide ongoing orthodontic clinical care for a range of complex orthodontic cases.
