Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist in Medical Retina

To actively provide and support the further development of first-class ophthalmology services for the Trust, working in collaboration with clinical colleagues in all disciplines to provide an integrated service for patients.The post will be for 10 programmed activities per week, giving adequate time for SPA duties. The working week has 8 sessions devoted to direct clinical care. Two SPA sessions of which 1.5PA is for to support CPD, audit, teaching and training and 0.5 SPA allocated according to role. Appointee is expected of continuing professional development (CPD) in the SPA time given to fulfil Appraisal and Revalidation. Travel time will be considered, and adequate lunch break is provided.

The department has a regular commitment to audit, with 10 sessions per year committed to audit and clinical governance. Teaching is an integral part of the unit, with junior doctors, medical students, orthoptic and optometry students rotating through the department. The candidate will be expected to participate in Audits, seminars and lectures for medical students, junior doctors and other professional or lay groups with health interests., We are looking to appoint a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist with an Interest in Medical Retina to join the Ophthalmology team at UHCW NHS Trust.

This post is principally to the Medical Retina service along with three other medical retina specialists. The post will be for 10 programmed activities per week, giving adequate time for SPA duties.

The candidate will be expected to participate in the current on call rota which is 1 in 10, third on call.
