Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Oncology Department at Whittington Health NHS Trust as a Consultant Medical Oncologist with specialist interests in Breast and Gastrointestinal cancers.

This 12-month fixed-term consultant post has been created to support the continued expansion of our oncology service and represents an excellent opportunity for an ambitious clinician seeking to combine high-quality clinical practice with leadership, education, service development and research.

Importantly, the Trust intends to develop this post into a substantive Consultant position within the next 12 months, subject to the successful completion of the required approval processes. Applicants seeking a long-term career within an innovative London cancer service are therefore strongly encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will join a friendly and collaborative multidisciplinary oncology team delivering modern systemic anti-cancer therapy in partnership with University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). The post offers opportunities to develop specialist interests, participate in clinical research, contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education and take on departmental leadership responsibilities.

Whittington Health serves a richly diverse population and works hard to ensure that all our services are fair and equally accessible to everyone. Nowhere is this more obvious than in the way we look after our staff. We aim to employ a workforce which is as representative as possible of this population, so we are open to the value of differences in age, disability, gender, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, race, sexual orientation, and religion or belief. The Trustbelieves that as a public sector organisation we have an obligation to have recruitment, training, promotion and other formal employment policies and procedures that are sensitive to these differences. We think that by doing so, we are better able to treat our patients as well as being a better place to work.
