Full Job Description
The appointment is for a 12-month fixed term 10 PA Consultant Gynaecologist. The post is based at St Michael's Hospital, with the job plan split between St Michael's Hospital and Weston General Hospital. You will join a cohesive and friendly team of 40 Consultants and Associate Specialists in obstetrics and gynaecology. The appointee will be an experienced gynaecologist who has completed the RCOG benign gynae ATSM. Additional ATSMs complementary to the existing department would be welcomed (such as EPC, menopause, PAG, vulval, fibroid service or endometriosis). Main duties of the job The post includes 2WW clinics and general gynaecology clinics, hysteroscopy and/or myosure clinics, and there is provision to support a clinic that supports the candidate's special interests. The post-holder will provide elective inpatient and outpatient care to patients referred with benign gynaecological conditions, including clinics and operating. The post holder will be expected to participate in emergency 'hot week' cover, and there is a non-resident (1 in 14) on call covering gynaecology only. - Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or Eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview
Higher academic qualification e.g. MD, PhD or equivalent Experience Essential - Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in Gynaecology
- Able to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision Desirable
- Evidence of a special interest and expertise that complements those of other consultants in the department and is consistent with the Trust's service strategy Clinical Knowledge and Skills Essential
- Up to date knowledge and experience of relevant specialty
- Knowledge of NHS priorities with reference to specialty Desirable
- Broad range of IT skills
- HIPEC experience desirable Clinical Governance and Audit Essential
- Understanding of clinical governance and the individual responsibilities it implies
- Knowledge of the principles of clinical audit and evidence of participation
