Full Job Description

Dartford and Gravesham NHS TrustWomen's and Children's DirectorateConsultant in Obstetrics and GynecologyFull time- 10 PA'sFixed term contract for 12 months

An opportunity has arisen to join our team of enthusiastic, motivated and committed Consultants in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, contributing towards enhancing maternal safety within our unit. The post is a new role following approval of expansion of consultant body to provide gynae cover during on call. The successful candidate will have a strong obstetric focus, and should be able to demonstrate experience and interest in fetal medicine, preterm clinic and high risk obstetrics, understand and lead on fetal wellbeing and run CTG teachings. A complementary interest in ambulatory care and HRT would also be of advantage and lend support to the existing consultant body in their provision of both gynaecology and obstetric services

This Job will provide clinical services across Southeast London as we continue to expand our activity across Kent. We provide outpatient and inpatient care on the Queen Mary's Hospital site in Sidcup, and will be expanding antenatal care in to the community as well. The provisional make-up of the post is described below, pending any changes that are agreed with the Clinical Director and the appointee, within 3 months of appointment. The successful candidate must be on the Specialist Register with the GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCT or CESR., The selected candidate should not take up labour ward on call responsibilities whilst on a different site or whilst doing any private sessions. Similarly you should not take on labour ward on call whilst covering another clinic.

The hours are calculated on the basis of averaged hours and have, on a rotational basis, a 'hot week' during which the appointment will cover the Delivery Suite and gynaecological emergencies. Although there will be a substantial out-of-hours commitment, this will be shared equally with the existing consultants on the rota.

We are committed to being an inclusive and diverse employer. We strive to employ people who reflect the communities we serve, and aim to create an inclusive culture where everyone can reach their full potential. Whatever your race, ethnicity, belief, generation, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity, disability or experience, you'll appreciate the opportunities we give you to work in an inclusive atmosphere. We welcome applications from people of diverse backgrounds, perspectives and experiences to build on the progress we've achieved to make our Trust diverse and the best place to work. We celebrate the diversity of thought, viewpoints and ideas that help us overcome challenges and embrace new possibilities.
