Locum Consultant - Medical Oncology

We have an exciting opportunity for a locum consultant post with the potential to work across Lung, Sarcoma, Germ Cell and/or Acute Oncology services. This is available as a full or part time position with room for discussion about job plan.

This post is fixed-term for 12 months initially and will be based at The Christie.

The successful applicant will work alongside consultants and trainees in outpatient clinics.

The successful applicant will be joining a Medical Oncology team comprising 59 consultants and 24 SpRs plus Clinical Fellows. They will provide input to all aspects of the management of patients and will be expected to teach junior medical staff and take part in audit and research., The postholder will have the opportunity to work across the Lung, Sarcoma, Germ Cell and Acute Oncology services. Examples of activity across these specialties include:o Lung - delivering two clinics per week, attending weekly lung meeting, and playing an active part in the fortnightly lung MDTo Sarcoma - delivering two clinics per week and attending the GMOSS (Greater Manchester & Ostwestry Sarcoma Service) MDT.o Germ Cell--delivering one clinic per week.o Acute Oncology- leading on inpatient reviews and decision-making on the wards.

There is a 1:3 rotation for sarcoma ward round at The Christie and a weekly ward round for acute oncology at Wythenshawe.

The postholder will contribute to the delivery of high-quality consultant-led care across 7 days. This includes participation in planned weekend and weekday clinical activity to support safe, timely decision-making and continuity of care for patients.
