Full Job Description

In February 2014 all in-patient vascular beds were reconfigured to Cheltenham General Hospital. A newly built (2014) hybrid interventional vascular surgery and radiology suite, where a combination of endovascular and open vascular procedures is undertaken, helped to deliver this service. The vascular unit has also been commissioned to accept all arterial elective and emergency work from Swindon and North Wiltshire, for patients who would formerly have been referred to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon. This reflects the area covered by the Gloucestershire and Swindon AAA screening programme., This exciting post offers the opportunity to work in a first class vascular and endovascular service. It is a new expansion post to support the increasing workload in the department. The appointee will form an integral part of vascular surgical services for the Gloucestershire and Swindon Vascular Network, with the hub based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and the two spokes at Cheltenham General Hospital and the Great Western Hospital in Swindon.

We are a large organisation providing acute services from Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in Gloucester and Cheltenham General Hospital to a population of 669,380 in Gloucestershire as well as caring for patients from surrounding counties and beyond.

The Vascular Network also provides acute and emergency services for the population of Great Western Hospitals in Swindon and North Wiltshire (353,242).

Our workforce is almost 8,000 strong and our caring and dedicated staff are recognised as providing good and outstanding patient-centred, high-quality emergency, elective and specialist care across a range of clinical areas.

We are committed to recruiting the best people to work with us to achieve our Vision of providing 'Best Care for Everyone' and our success depends on the commitment and dedication of our staff, many of whom are world leaders in healthcare, teaching and research. You could make a real difference to our patients' lives by joining our team.
